INTERVIEW NO. 14
O’Connell & Squelch
United Kingdom
Introduction
O’Connell & Squelch Ltd is branding agency who specialise in strategic, engaging design. Our studio has been running for almost 8 years since founded by Andy Squelch, Creative Director and Brian O’Connell. Over the past few years the company has been focussing more and more on branding and strategy with clients in a wide range of sectors.
How do you describe your work?
Our goal is to help our clients achieve growth by improving their customer experiences. We do this by creating high quality, brand identities which communicate effectively across a wide range of marketing channels.
We truly believe in being flexible and willing to adapt our approach when required, to help solve our clients’ problems. We try not to retain a particular style or a rigid process.
A designer o studio you admire?
Naturally we admire the world’s leading brand agencies such as Lippincott, Wolff Olins and Saffron. Lately we really admire the philosophies of Michael Johnson’s, Johnson Banks. Design houses we admire include the likes of Studio North, DN&CO, Bruce Mau Design and Socio Design.
Could you tell us about any of your projects?
Our most recent projects include work for Classpack®’s Design and Specification Manual, Eurofood Partners brand creation and environmental branding for the Jim Wilson Centre for Learning.
The Classpack® case bound book has been designed using an adaptable isometric grid system and is aimed at architectural practices who specialise in the education sector.
Eurofood Partners are a global food sourcing and procurement company and required a brand identity which is clean and well organised but still gives a nod to the raw food produce aspect of the business.
