INTERVIEW NO. 12

Marek Nedelka

Czech Republic

Introduction

Hello everyone! I’m a 25 years old graphic designer from Czech Republic, living and working in Prague. With my friends (typographers and designers) we share a nice studio in the modernist building from 30s. While working, I still study my masters at Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in Prague.

How do you describe your work?

My nature is efficiency. I always want to convey concrete and clear messages through my design.

A designer o studio you admire?

I’m always disappointed when I read an interview, and the questioner replies that there are so many good designers so he doesn’t want to name them. I’m always curious about names, so here’s my list… Kasper-Florio, Dan Solbach, Jan Novák, OK-RM, Henrik Nygren, John Morgan, Spassky Fischer, Building Paris, Mevis & Van Deursen, Radim Peško, Optimo.

Could you tell us about any of your projects?

One of my latest & favorite project is the exhibition design for Martin Rauch: Refined Earth in the House of Art České Budějovice. Chief curator Michal Škoda is the great person. From nothing he has built the gallery in the South Bohemia. For almost 20 years he has brought to Czech Republic many important artists and architects from abroad like Smiljan Radić, Wolfgang Tillmans, Carsten Nicolai. The last of them is an Austrian architect Martin Rauch. It was a great pleasure to collaborate with Michal and Martin Rauch on this nice exhibition. I’m looking forward to work on upcoming ones!
