INTERVIEW NO. 19
David Genco
Luxembourg
Introduction
I was born and raised in Luxembourg by parents who emigrated from Spain and Italy. Juggling between different cultures led to an obvious magnetism to New York City where I currently live and work.
How do you describe your work?
Each project varies in terms of medium, aesthetic, technique. Overall functional, communicative, and non-specialized; I like shaking up semiotics and language.
A designer o studio you admire?
Too many studios… NR2154, Pentegram Dase design…
Could you tell us about any of your projects?
The Senses: Design Beyond Vision was particularly exciting. It was an opportunity to create a visual identity for both the exhibition graphics and the accompanying book but also a challenge in terms of communicating the non-visual. The result is a typographic leitmotiv of adjectives that allude to our senses, and determine the title’s layout and line breaks in favor of its underlying message.
